Love your scars

Working with scars is like speaking a different language in the world of connective tissue. Scar tissue is very dense fascia with unique properties. Scar tissue work uses a casual, light touch - a little reminiscent of working with bread dough.

The work is rarely painful - even for very new scars, and the amount of change in one intervention is extensive. The cosmetic effect is delightful and the functional changes can be profound. Natural and surgical scars of any age respond immediately followed by a short period of rapid healing and continued improvement. The improvements are permanent.
Surgery scars that we can work on include
- Caesarean
- Mastectomy
- Joint replacement - knee, hip, shoulder
- Mole removal
- Abdominal

Scars from injuries and other physical traumas can also be released.

The warm touch of the hand triggers the healing process on many different levels, takes away fear, helps to acknowledge the scar and can facilitate a re-connection to the body creating a sense of calm. Clients often experience feeling ‘whole’ again and other unexpected outcomes such as body acceptance, a return of sensuality and even overcoming intimacy issues.

Scar tissue quality changes quickly and easily. Lumps, gaps, ridges, holes, bumps, knots, and strings in the tissue rapidly smooth out into a three dimensional fascial web.

The work starts with the surface layers and goes into the far reaches of the scar including work with any involved viscera. Scarwork often results in large whole body integration shifts along with trauma resolution, and nerve-impaired numbness may be resolved.

ScarWork can fit seamlessly into an SI series or be used as a stand alone intervention session.

Your surgery dealt with a specific area but I will treat your body as a whole. Your body will compensate for it somehow - it is clever like that - but it will be at a cost.

There's really no need to put up with uncomfortable and restricting scars. We can help you move through recovery and onto the things that you’d prefer to be focussing on.

"About 8 years ago I smashed my ankle up on rocks at the beach. Broken in 7 places, at the time the surgeon said it was a possible amputation. So the fact that I have a heavily plated, pinned and screwed ankle and leg and still able to walk on it I felt lucky however I had to strap it at least twice a week to walk any distance and regularly had pain.

While assessing my overall treatment Gigi decided to devote a session to the scar. From that day on I have had no pain, I have never strapped the ankle and feel much more balanced and able to rely on my 'dodgy' ankle without favouring my 'normal' one. Thank you Gigi!
